To
Deal with Protection Fault
We cannot see the protection
fault prompt every time. It usually appears
as "General Protection Fault" (GPF) with lot
of hexadecimal codes. It signifies that the processing
unit of the computer is coming up with a special code
trap which is meant for unusual situation. It happens
due to improper storage access by a program. The protection
fault indicates that a particular program has
tried to access a portion of memory which was corrupted
or used by any other program. This may cause hardware
issues if it goes on like this.
Generally, the protection fault regarding
hardware indicates incorrect power signals. This happens
due to overheating of the CPU. Same could happen due
to faulty or corrupted RAMs in the computer. If we see
any software problem, it is because of programming errors
on design issues. However, if we keep on installing
and uninstalling programs, same issue will appear. For
instance, obsolete drivers try to access the memory
which is not compatible. These programs access different
location in the hard drive in order to run. A protection
fault may also come if there are wrong settings
in the system.
The best way to fix general protection fault
(GPF) is to restart the computer again. It may not be
logical but there are issues which were solved after
restarting the computer. If still we are not sure, we
may take the help of an expert. Moreover, we need to
go through the “Device Manage” option. We need to click
on “Show Hidden Devices” from the control panel. Then
we need to look for "TDSSserv.sys" and we
need to disable it by right click. Now we need to restart
the computer. Then the issue will be terminated. This
is the way to deal with general protection fault.
