More
about Hard Disk Partition
There are various ways for hard
disk partition. The best part of partitioning
the drive is that we can run different operating systems
on a single hard disk. It is actually dividing the hard
memory into different parts. Usually we can do this
on a formatted hard drive.
So for hard disk partition, first we
need to open the “command prompt’’. There we need to
type "FDISK". Now the partition window will
appear with onscreen options. Then, we need to enter
“5” if we are partitioning a second drive and we need
to select the drive; otherwise we can go to the next
step. Then, we need to press “1” for creating DOS partition.
Next option could be pressing “2”, to create extended
DOS based partition. Then we can press “N” if the program
asks whether we want to use the maximum available for
hard disk partition. Here we need distribute
the amount of disk space for the second partition and
the partition will be assigned by the next drive letter.
Now we need to type a name for the new partition and
the partition menu will appear. Same way, we need to
follow previous steps to create additional partitions.
End of this, we can exit the hard disk partition
command by pressing the “Esc” bottom from the keyboard.
Now we can format the newly created partitions as per
the system requirements.
However, few points we need to remember. That is, C
drive should be allocated with 20 GB. Moreover, programs
such as Partition Magic, makes hard disk partitioning
much easier. But through FDISK procedure, system deletes
all files, so it is better to take back ups for files
we want to keep. In this way we can try hard
disk partition from our own.
