Cmos
Error in Detail
Generally, the CMOS error
message looks like"CMOS checksum invalid, default
values loaded". The error comes up when the values
put in the CMOS is corrupted or the BIOS settings in
the computer is not proper. Most of the times system
will give a warning error before the default CMOS values
are loaded in the system. Actually, CMOS is a system
equation which produces a specific size value from a
ratio of digital data. This value updates the pre-loaded
value stored in the CMOS. It is also known as complementary
metal oxide semiconductor. CMOS Memory is activated
whenever the computer is power on.
Basically, The CMOS is a protection for the BIOS which
is known as the basic input/output of the system. It
is stored in the CMOS memory itself. While booting the
system if the value does not match with the stored value
in CMOS than CMOS error message come
up. It may happen if the battery is out of charge. Like
wise, the error may also come up if the BIOS update
has taken place either by us with the help of any hardware
installations or by the BIOS flashing. Moreover, if
the system is infected by a virus like AntiCMOS, the
same CMOS error will appear. It may
happen due to improper shutdown but after a reboot system
will work fine.
Lot of times, by simply updating the BIOS settings,
system can recover from CMOS error.
So, in that case we can try to check the BIOS and save
under the default settings. We could test the CMOS battery
and replace it after checking it. This could be a cause
of CMOS error. But if the system again
showing the same error message then it is better to
call up a technician and get the BIOS settings updated.
