After
The Broken Hard Drive
Hard drive is considered as the secondary
and the permanent memory of the computer. We can say
that computer cannot function without a hard drive.
The entire windows, programs, command and instructions
are kept on a specific location of the hard drive. Once
we turn on the computer, the computer itself pulls the
operating system and other commands to start the booting
process. Now, we can think of the impact of a broken
hard drive. However, there are ways to deal
with it.
Situations can be different, if the system comes up
with an error message for the broken hard drive.
If any day we hear a grinding noise from the computer,
we may predict about the hard drive crash. However,
this means some of the files of the operating system
have gone bad. So, we need to get the windows installation
CD and insert it. This CD will help to reconstruct and
recover the broken hard drive. In this
way we can repair the operating system as well. Many
of us may not have this particular CD, so there is another
option. That is, we need to take hard drive out of the
computer and attach it with another computer. Then we
can try to boot it and get all the files stored on the
broken hard drive.
Generally, by this time we could get the important documents
and files. But if this doesn’t happen, we can take the
help of hard drive recovery programs like “Active Undelete”
or "Recover My Files". These programs could
be helpful for those people who have less knowledge
about the broken hard drive. Moreover,
with the help of these utilities, we can make bootable
compact discs to turn up the operating system as well
as the hard drive.
